From programming Arduino to giving technical interviewing advice, our programs build community, empower participants to see themselves as technologists and leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.

ChickTech Philly: High School (2017)

One of our signature programs is ChickTech: High School, which supplements traditional education and provides a supportive community for young women to learn how to create technology. We start off with a 2-day kick off event and continue with subsequent events, mentoring, and internship opportunities for the next 8-12 months.
Our ideal participants are girls who do not see themselves as technical but who have the aptitude to do very well in technical fields. By increasing their self-confidence and interest in technology, we increase the number of girls who aspire to technology careers. This important work is shaping the workforce of tomorrow to have the diverse skills and perspectives needed for the industry to thrive. All workshops are hands-on and project-based so that participants come out of each with a sense of accomplishment and a burst of confidence.

ChickTech Philly: Career

ChickTech: Career events are focused on creating community among women and providing them with the support they need, whether it be career-focused, technical, or emotional and social. Our events are for women of all ages (and careers!). We believe our events will help to keep women engaged if they are already in high tech, give them confidence if they were thinking about going into high tech, and help them to create a great network of intelligent, amazing women just like themselves. The events range from networking to hands-on workshops, with most of our events falling in the latter category.

ACT-W Conference in Philadelphia

Another major program is our ACT-W (Advancing the Careers of Technical Women) conference. In collaboration with local companies and non-profits, our chapter will organize a weekend event with interactive discussions, resume reviews, mock interviews, a career fair, and career and technical workshops for women of all experience levels.
